I was hoping to get some items on clearance this year and didn't even have time to do that. I'm with you on shopping the day of while the kids were in the car.... some years are just that way.

Our church's older folks group is called the Prime Ministers (LOL)... pretty similar to your Prime Timers.

We dug out some candles for a candle light dinner, but nothing fancy to eat (LOL).

I think it is neat how you all celebrate. You guys are such a fun family. I still would love to meet you all in real life someday! Also, thanks for the sweet words about my Valentine Breakfast and decorations. I love celebrating everything too!

What a wonderful tradition! I think it is so sweet that you take as many opportunities as possible to celebrate with your family. Sometimes we get so caught up in the busyness of our lives that we forget to celebrate. I'll have to give this some thought and see how we can add more "special occasions" to our everyday lives. Thank you for sharing.

That's a cool tradition to steal! Greg started 3 years ago giving a gift and card to our daughter (only one at the time). He's continued that with both the girls now. I don't know where he got the idea, but my daughter loves it!

I think that the gift of Celebration is one of the many good things Kathy brings to our family. As much as I would like to take credit for it, she even originated the term, "Holiday Hours" (a general suspension of bedtimes, declaring open season on snack foods, and often heralding a family movie or game marathon).

I don't think there's anything wrong with enjoying and celebrating, every chance you get. In the words of Snoopy, from the musical You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, "I don't see why mealtimes can't be a joyous occasion!"

With David's birthday coming up, and a paid holiday on Monday, this weekend may be a "Holiday Hours" kind of weekend. Personally, I'm looking forward to it. :)
