Is it just sort of expected and they do it? Do you have to remind them and prod them along? I try not to use sugar/treats too often as a reward/bribe but sometimes it does fall to that. I like the idea of tying the tidying up to a meal like Debbie said. I'm afraid my children feel like they do a LOT of cleaning and tidying. Ha!!! Let's see if we had Debbie and her five and De'Etta and her six that are still at home, we'd have quite a houseful. Wouldn't that be crazy and fun. Probably because my own group is so excited to have friends that they are off playing contentedly. The only time it becomes overwhelming is in the clean up and food departments. Thankfully we're dealing with older children these days (I watch my friend who has three little girls, 4 and under, and so remember those days) so I have lots of helpers. Greg was so sweet to mop the floor after mom and dad left and it looked so beautiful - for all of 2 hours....then the kids came in from the pool and both the dogs came through....Waaaahhhh! It's a never ending cycle. I feel like the little hamster running on the wheel - cook,clean,laundry, cook, clean, laundry....Perhaps you need to send some Dove choc. our way! Don't you think any children after #3 is just controlled chaos - what's one more in the mix...ha! I love it! Hmm…your house sounds like my house! We don't do near enough cleaning around here! :-p I do use the food incentive...no one get dinner until the toy room is cleaned up...that sort of thing...don't even need to use sugar here as the Littles live and breath for their next feeding.
