Zoo Tycoon, Roller Coaster Tycoon, anything Tycoon...They are great educational games where kids have to build a Zoo, Roller Coaster Park, etc...they have a set amount of money and have to make money and budget accordingly. None of them are real easy but they would be great for older kids.

Cool--I've added the Machines game to the Christmas shopping list! They've kind of outgrown our stash of these for the moment. The Arthur games were a big hit for years. Our favorites have mostly been the Way Things Work and the Encyclopedia! My son LOVES that. The 3-D animal encyclopedia was a big hit for a while too. We get this stuff at 1/2 Price Books so I'm not upset if the "Thrill" is gone quickly--I just box it up and resell it!

This is exactly what I needed. I decided THIS MORNING to get my kids each a computer game for Christmas, but had NO IDEA what to get. Any other suggestions for first, second, third, and fifth graders?
