I, too, am a Nutella fan. And I think the crime is not the missing piece, or, as your well-meaning but misguided friend suggests, the presence of complex grains. But in fact, as Rachel hints at, the crime is the paltry little Nutella smear. Be a man, Tim, and DIP THAT BABY BITE BY BITE IN THE JAR!

Well, really, I think you showed great restraint with that Nutella. I mean, there is only an adequate smear on each piece. Think, you could have piled it on an inch thick, making it questionable whether an actual waffle existed beneath. I’m pretty sure you have been tempered by your wife, even if unknowingly.

My latest project on the eating scene is to try to get Dave to eat a handful of pistachios a day and use honey instead of sugar in his coffee, since both of these lower cholesterol and his cholesterol is borderline high. It seems much easier than dieting and exercise, the other solution for high cholesterol. And I am impressed that despite LOTS of grumping and complaining when I lugged the pistachios and honey home from the grocery store, pistachios and coffee with sugar have been his breakfast for a couple of weeks now. Aw, just wait until all the children have grown and flown the coop, and we wives have nothing but our husbands to work on.

The real crime is not the ABSENCE of a piece of “pan-waffle.”
It is the PRESENCE of complex grains.
My mind is now boggled at the thought of what makes those grains so complex. Is it their abandonment issues? Are they masking alternating feelings of inadequacy and superiority? Are they like ogres and onions…with so many layers?

But in the end, so happy that you had the Nutella.
I bet you keep that in your emergency man-box right next to the duct tape…and cheese, of course.

Nutella covers a multitude of injuries, does it? Inquiring minds want to know why the pan-waffle is in pieces in the first place. Could it be the hard-working most devoted wife in the world just put 1-too-few pieces in the bag? Could it be the sleepy worker forgot that he already ate a piece? Could it be he had one MORE piece than a whole pan-waffle, rather than one too few pieces? The griddle lines don’t line up right, you see… Unfathomable mysteries all.
