Duckafamily. . .

My wife and I read 5 Love Languages years ago as "recently weds" (later than newlyweds, but less than the 5 year anniversary?). My wife is "gifts", followed by "quality time". I am "acts of service" followed by "words of affirmation". I have to confess that I'm not nearly as good at delivering gifts as I should (though I've gotten good at turning three loads of laundry into a "gift" when I can). For her, offering acts of service for me after homeschooling our kids and taking care of them while I travel on business is tough.

I guess that because of that, and the fact that we both know how tough it is for the other to speak "our" language, we both appreciate it immensely when the other does anything.

Re the kids, we both have some pretty good guesses what languages Belle, Tink and The Boy prefer. It certainly helps in helping them feel valued and loved.

Great idea, I love this idea about making simple things a gift. WHat a fun idea, thank you! Your boy David is so cute, Kathy.
I too like that book, it is just a simple, practical book on how to love people well, and I like it. One of my love languages is gifts, and David often does sweet things for me like bring home a cold Diet Coke in a bottle or a Starbucks Americano. He is very intentional about meeting me in that area and it doesn't have to be expensive at all - it is the representation of the thing, you know? I appreciate that he seeks to reach me even though that is not his particular love language. I heartily agree with you, though I just only now realized it -- we all need each of those love languages spoken to us from time to time, all 5 of them. Anne

Hi Kathy

Haven't visited for a long time.

I am a BIG believer in the 5 love languages. Mine is acts of service and then words of affirmation - Dion's is words of affirmation and quality time.

I think your story is SOOOOOO sweet - just goes to show what your son's language is, so I guess you're wrapping everything from now onwards, aren't you?

What are the other kids' languages, and what are yours and your hubby's?
