I must confess, Tim, that I'm in the same boat as Kathy when it comes to hearing financial advice. I'm much more likely to listen and take it if it comes from someone else. And Dave Ramsey offers a course aimed specifically at high school kids... you may want to check it out. His course for adults is great, but it is definitely for adults. Not sure what the youth-oriented course is like, but I'd bet it's entertaining and engaging! Way to go with the debt reduction!
