Oh, I just read one before me on Folgers, and it was Maxwell House:

“Maxwell House is…. Maxwell House is… good to the last drop, Maxwell House…” the notes were something like c-c-d-f; e-d-c-a; g-g-g-g-a-b-a-g-a….
(on a piano…)

Folgers had something about every morning’s a good morning with Folger’s in your cup. (I always remember it because there was a Reader’s Digest short funny where a little boy brought his mom breakfast in bed, and she found army men in her coffee. She asked him about it, and he said, “You know, mom, every morning’s a good morning with soldiers in your cup!”

I was going to read all the previous comments, but it is making me forget what I was going to tell you, so at the risk of repeating others, here are slogans/jingles/commercials I remember:

99 & 44/100ths percent pure love (Ivory Soap)

I’m a Pepper, You’re a Pepper, She’s a Pepper too, Dr. Pepper”

“Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun” (McDonalds commercial for the Big Mac)

“You deserve a break today, so get up and get away to McDonalds”

“Oh I wish I were an Oscar Meyer weiner,
that is what I truly want to beeeeee,
Cause if I were an Oscar Meyer weiner,
everyone would be in love with me.” (Little boy)

countered by a little girl:
“Oh I’m glad I’m not an Oscar Meyer weiner,
that is what I never want to beeeeee,
Cause if I were an Oscar Meyer weiner,
there would soon be nothing left of me.”

and
“N – e – s – t – l – e – s …. Nestle’s makes the very best…. choooo….clit!”

Well, there was one other one, where the kids were spelling out
“b-o-l-o-g-n-a” — but I can’t remember the way it goes. It seems like it was another Oscar Meyer product, but I can’t how it went. If it was Oscar Meyer, then it was just spelling out Oscar Meyer and then spelling out Meyer, followed by spelling out bologna, but it had a certain tune I am just not remembering…

So, that’s it!

This isn’t an old commercial – in fact it is very new this year. It is all about the new LG appliances. The tag line for the washing machines is something to the effect: “The only thing standing between you and your new LG ________(pick an appliance) is your old ________ (appliance)”. What the blogger has to say below the commercials is spot on. One of the more blatant “we’re here to make you dissatisfied with your present things and the only way you will be satisfied is to buy or brand new things” commercials I’ve ever seen. Nothing subliminal here! I couldn’t find the commercial on YouTube but found ads on a blog:

I’m a fan of the Geico commercials. The caveman ones are good, but I really like the recent one with Mrs. Butterworth (which is another memorable product commercial). Makes me laugh every time.

What about a Jello commercial with Bill Cosby? I loved those!
