I love new beginnings and fresh starts. Although I have a skeptical side (enhanced by living 15 years with a programmer/realist/cynical husband), I am an optimist at heart. I love January with its New Year’s Resolutions, goal planning opportunities, and the hanging of the new calendar.
Most importantly I like a fun, family party.
Some people get a little carried away on New Year’s Eve!
We were invited to a New Year’s Eve party with some friends from our church Bible study group. Yummy food, a stack of games, friends and laughter. What could be better?
Not having to host the party!!
David cheers the new year.
We had a wonderful time.
Did you go out for the evening? How many people joined you? Did you watch the ball drop? Family only or friends? Dinner or just appetizers and desserts? Black tie or casual? I love to hear about how other people celebrate the New Year so leave a comment and say hello.

Project 365 – Day 365
Happy New Year to you as well! Wishing you all the best that God has planned, with a few of His amazing surprises as well. I love God’s surprises, don’t you?
We had a great time. The rec center in our town has a New Year’s Eve family party from 4-7p.m. We swim, rock climb, eat, jump on the big bouncer, play kids against adults in dodge ball, and just have FUN!! We then had a family come over and continued more food, games and good conversation until they left at 11, and then our family stayed up to watch the ball drop. I love hanging out as a family. Happy New Year!!
LOVE the new blog design, absolutely beautiful! (I’m not always good at catching things like this either.)
New Year’s Eve: Location. At home.
Dress. Casual. Kids took showers and got back in pjs. (eyes rolling)
Food. By the time we chose just the cheese and bread for fondue (which only Rob and I would eat), we were up to $20, with wine still to buy. We dumped that idea and had cheeseburgers, onion rings and vegetables. Later, we had “ham cubes” (thin sliced ham with a cream cheese/horseradish mix layered in between) and chocolate covered strawberries and Nilla Wafers and pretzels, and champagne.
Entertainment. The kids were very happy to watch cable tv, and with some begging finally agreed to play a little PS2 with mom and dad. We opened our door at midnight but couldn’t hear anyone!!!
Happy New Year!
Sorry we missed the New Year’s Eve Party…looks like it was tons of fun!!!! I love getting your blogs, but am usually too timid to reply…so with a new year, comes a first time to post on your blog page!
I celebrated by having the kids, still tired and sick, asleep by 8pm. For an extra special New Year’s treat to myself, I was in bed by 10:30! As all my family lives on the east coast, I watched the NYC New Years on TV at 9.
Kirk enjoyed the night playing his games and watching Fox News
Very cute, looks like fun! We went out to dinner and then came home played games and watched the ball drop. We also toasted the New Year in with sparkling cidar.
We stayed home. The Littles went to bed, but Bess and Gabe stayed up. We played games, watched a movie, watched the ball drop and then watched the fireworks on TV from a neighboring town. It was a very enjoyable quiet evening.
Happy New Year!
Kathy, I’ve enjoyed getting to know you and your family through your blog this year. I look forward to hearing about your adventures in 2008, as well!
My family celebrated New Year’s Eve by playing games, making ice cream sundaes, and watching the ball drop on TV (and Mom and I took our last pictures of P365!). It was a very enjoyable night.
Happy New Year. AK
We went to the The Call in Kansas City. Nothing like 20,000 young people praying and worshipping in the new year! Happy New Year Kathy! I have truly enjoyed getting to know you better with the help of your blog. I have met some wonderful people on SHS and you are one of them! God Bless and Happy New Year.
Beautiful new blog design!
We had our whole extended family here – eating together, playing games and then watching the ball drop on TV. Today, it is more eating, watching the Rose parade and then football, football, football!

Sounds like you had a great time with your friends welcoming the new year. Great photos of your kids.
Blessings to you and yours.
Love the pictures of your little party animals! Their little smiles always make me smile too : )
Happy New Year Kathy and Family! We went out for Chinese with another family and then went to see National Treasure. We got home at about 10:30 and managed to keep our eyes open until 12:02! Lol! We watch the acorn drop in North Carolina!
